TANNER TO MAINIERI “Go Win a Regional”

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU's Paul Mainieri tells WAFB he got a text message from Ray Tanner of the reigning NCAA and SEC Champion South Carolina Gamecocks Sunday morning, telling him to get his team ready for NCAA play, even though the Tigers failed to make the SEC Tournament and have not officially received at at-large bid to this year's NCAA Tournament.

Tanner is this year's regional advisory rep for the 10-man NCAA Tournament selection committee, which does not have a member from the Southeastern Conference.

The Tigers will return to practice Tuesday hoping they're preparing to play in a regional, but that official word won't come down until next Monday.
