LSU football media day is similar Easter Sunday mass. It's the first and last time you'll see a lot of people all year. This means certain reporters make this the one occasion to drop in on the Tigers all season. And, it also applies to the LSU true freshman, who may be on the team all year but are only allowed the speak to the media once all season...at this event.
Media members will certainly be swarming such super freshman as defensive lineman Anthony "Freak" Johnson, running backs Kenny Hilliard and Terrence Magee, along with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. And for all of his hype, junior college transfer quarterback Zach Mettenberger still hasn't conducted one single interview since officially joining the LSU program in the spring. That should end today.
Head coach Les Miles will be the first to speak and field questions at around 1:30 pm. Miles will be followed by his feisty defensive coordinator John Chavis at 2:15 pm, before newly promoted offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa steps to the podium. Other assistant coaches will be available for one-on-one interviews between 4-4:30 pm, while the media can approach all the Tiger players individually between 4-5 pm.
Be sure to visit wafb.com and watch our sportscasts at 6 & 10 pm for the latest on LSU football, as the huge season opener against Oregon September 3 draws closer.
