BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
LSU and Alabama part deux is set. According to the Baton Rouge Lodging Association, hotels in New Orleans are already booked solid for the BCS game on Jan. 9. If fans want a ticket, it'll cost quite a bit.
The lowest ticket price found was $1,365 to sit in the terrace. However, a prime seat around the 40 to 50-yard line will run you more than $5,000.
Travel agencies around Baton Rouge are selling special BCS packages for the weekend of the game. The phones at Pearson's Travel World rang almost nonstop Monday. Owner Jerry Pearson said his company has 60 tickets to sell. He added it's not just the tickets people want, it's the total experience.
"To be on Bourbon Street the day of the game and see the sea of purple and gold, you can't do that by driving over and back," Pearson explained.
Pearson said the calls really picked up after the Arkansas game.
For $4,000, Pearson's Travel World is offering a three-night stay on Canal Street and two BCS tickets on the terrace level corner end zone.
"We received emails and faxes talking about $6,000 and $8,000, so its going to be an expensive ticket," he said.
There is one very clear indication of how much attention this game is drawing. The two largest private high schools in Baton Rouge have decided to cancel school on game day.
Catholic High and St. Joseph's Academy have sent letters to parents stating the schools will be closed Jan. 9 and open late the day after the game.
